A two-vehicle crash in South Strabane Township closed part of Route 19 and snarled traffic and sent one area woman to the hospital late Friday afternoon.

Township police said the accident occurred about 5:25 p.m. when Mason Diaz, 21, of Houston made a left turn through a red light onto Racetrack Road in the car he was driving and crashed into an SUV.

Marsha Minor, 44, of Eighty Four, the driver of the SUV, was taken to Canonsburg Hospital by the Washington-based Ambulance and Chair Service. Steiner said Minor’s injuries weren’t serious.

“I think it’s more of a precaution that she went to the hospital,” police said. Minor’s condition was not known Saturday afternoon.

Police said the southbound lanes of Route 19 were closed and a detour was set up on Racetrack Road for about an hour. One northbound lane was also closed, and motorists were unable to turn left onto Racetrack Road from Route 19.

Police said traffic citations are pending against Diaz.
