Man injured, I-70 closed for hours following tractor-trailer accident

The driver of a tractor-trailer was seriously injured after the vehicle overturned on Interstate 70 near the Bentleyville exit at about 2:45 p.m. Thursday.

I-70 eastbound was closed for several hours following the accident, and state police in Washington estimated it could be closed for up to 10 hours.

Traffic was re-routed onto routes 519 and 40.

The driver was flown by emergency helicopter to a Pittsburgh hospital.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident.

No additional information was available Thursday night.
