New sexual assault charges filed against former Washington man

Jon E. Stein
A former Washington man who was arrested earlier this month on child rape charges filed in 2012 faces additional sexual assault charges filed Wednesday.
Jon Edwin Stein, 53, was arraigned that day on new charges of aggravated indecent assault of a child and indecent assault of a child. The alleged victim reportedly told city police recently about inappropriate touching that occurred in late 2009 while Stein lived on Woodland Avenue.
Stein already faced charges of rape of a child, rape, aggravated indecent assault of a child, indecent assault of an unconscious person, indecent assault without consent, furnishing liquor to a minor and two counts of aggravated indecent assault without consent police filed in 2012 in connection with allegations another victim reported to police late in 2011.
Stein was jailed Dec. 7 after he was arraigned before District Judge Robert Redlinger. Authorities didn’t say in court papers where Stein was arrested. He gave a Las Vegas address to Redlinger.
A preliminary hearing was set for Stein Wednesday morning in the first case, but the proceeding was postponed until Jan. 17.
Redlinger has set bond at a total of $200,000 in both sets of charges.
