East Bethlehem father jailed in wife’s assault
An East Bethlehem Township father was arrested Wednesday afternoon after allegedly assaulting his pregnant wife.
State police responded just before 12:30 p.m. to a report of a physical domestic dispute involving a firearm at 101 Frederick Terrace.
Police said Jerry Michael Murray, 29, punched and beat his wife, Kristen Anne Lewis, 28, who is six months pregnant, several times with a closed fist while she was holding their 2-year-old son. A 7-year-old boy was also in the home.
Murray fled on foot with a .38-caliber handgun and was caught after a short distance with several small baggies of marijuana, pills and the handgun with several rounds of ammunition, police said.
Lewis sustained facial injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Murray faces aggravated assault, simple assault, terroristic threats, reckless endangering, carrying firearm without a license and drug charges and was placed in Washington County jail. Charges were filed through District Judge Joshua P. Kanalis.
