Neuman appointed subcommitee chairman
State Rep. Brandon Neuman, D-North Strabane Township, has been named Democratic chairman of the House Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee on Courts.
“The subcommittee delves into the details of issues central to Pennsylvania’s judiciary, including merit selection, establishing problem-solving courts such as drug and DUI courts, funding and matters dealing with court policies and procedures,” Neuman said.
Neuman, now in his fourth term representing the 48th Legislative District, was reappointed last month to the House Judiciary Committee, as well as to posts on the Consumer Affairs, Environmental Resources and Energy, Labor and Industry, and Agriculture and Rural Affairs panels. All state legislation is funneled through the appropriate committee.
He also was named chairman of the Offense-Related Guidelines Review Subcommittee of the Pennsylvania Commission on Sentencing, which is charged with reviewing current sentencing guidelines and statutes and recommending changes where needed.
