Police Beat Feb. 15
PFA violation alleged: Gary Mariani, 66, who lists addresses of Jefferson Avenue and Whitetail Drive, Washington, was arraigned Monday before District Judge David Mark on a charge of violating a protection-from-abuse order obtained by his estranged wife from Senior Judge John Reed after he allegedly contacted her over the weekend. He was released after posting $10,000 bond. Chartiers police said this is the second time in three weeks he violated a PFA order.
Items stolen: Judi Smith of 536 Pike St., Meadow Lands, told Chartiers police Sunday three pairs of shoes and prescription medication were stolen from her home.
Warrant arrest: Douglas Edward Rowan, 40, of Wellsburg, W.Va., was arrested on a warrant obtained by McDonald police charging him with burglary, criminal trespass, theft and receiving stolen property. He is accused of breaking into a home at 515 Valley St., Robinson, May 27. He allegedly entered the home through an open window and ransacked a safe but did not steal anything but a pack of cigarettes. The homeowner also told police he previously loaned Rowan an air compressor that was never returned. Rowan was arraigned before District Judge Ethan Ward and placed in Washington County jail on $50,000 bond.
Drug charges: Donald Payne, 55, of Clairton, will be charged by Monongahela police with possession of crack and drug paraphernalia stemming from a traffic stop Monday night on Route 88, Union. He also will be charged with driving with a suspended license. The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge James Ellis.
Prescriptions stolen: Shirley Snavely of 74 E. Chestnut St. told Washington police Monday two types of prescription medication were stolen from her home.
