A New Eagle man who was wanted in an alleged rape case in Monongahela has been apprehended in New York.

Jason Orin Stevens, 43, was in custody Wednesday in Onondaga County jail in Syracuse awaiting extradition to Washington County following his arrest by state police in New York, online court records show. He was being held without bond on a warrant signed last week by District Judge Mark Wilson in Monongahela.

Stevens was accused of breaking into a residence on Corrin Avenue about 2:30 a.m. Feb. 14 while carrying a knife and ordering the victim from her bed to the living room, where she accused him of raping her.

The victim told Monongahela police she was in bed with a child when Stevens arrived and also took her cellphone to prevent her from calling police. She told police he didn’t leave her residence until about 5:30 p.m., police stated in court records.

The woman also said Stevens threatened to kill her and the child. Police said investigators found evidence indicating the residence was entered through a kitchen window.

Stevens was charged with rape, burglary, making terroristic threats, unlawful restraint, reckless endangerment, false imprisonment and simple assault, court records show.

He was scheduled to appear in court today in Onondaga County.
