Hodge Hanlan, who was convicted in September for hindering the apprehension of his fugitive son by giving false information to police, was sentenced Dec. 22 to 40 days to 1 year in jail, with credit for 40 days served.

Hanlan, 71, of Dilliner, lied to investigators in January 2016 about the location of his one of his sons, Shane Hanlan, who U.S. marshals had been trying to locate since May 2015, after he failed to show for a sentencing hearing following a conviction of receiving stolen property.

Surveillance video introduced at the trial showed the father and son together Jan. 6 at the Dilliner Convenience Store. When authorities stormed the family’s Bald Hill Road residence the following day, they found Shane Hanlan in the home while Hodge Hanlan was sleeping on a living room couch.

In addition, Greene County Judge Lou Dayich ordered Hodge Hanlan to stay away from drugs and alcohol. Dayich said in his order that he would not have to pay any fines because “the court is convinced that the defendant is poorly educated, in poor physical health and is economically deprived.”
