SARVER (AP) – A garage at a Western Pennsylvania auto racetrack has burned, but officials say the fire doesn’t appear to be suspicious.

Buffalo Township fire Chief Matt Cypher tells the Butler Eagle that the bulk of the fire was located near the electrical service panel of the building at Lernerville Speedway on Route 356.

The fire was spotted by a patrolling police officer about 4:10 a.m. Tuesday. Nobody was hurt in the blaze, which was under control less than three hours later.

Cypher says firefighters heard explosions as they arrived, but it’s not clear what caused them.

The track opened in 1967 but was sold last year by World Racing Group to Tomson Scrap Metal. The racing season on the four-tenths of a mile dirt oval begins in the spring.
