PITTSBURGH (AP) – Pittsburgh police found a fatally wounded man after a Shot Spotter sensor alerted officers to gunfire.

Police haven’t released the name of the 28-year-old man found slain on Frankstown Road in the city’s crime-ridden Homewood neighborhood. Shot Spotters are automatic sensors designed to detect the sound of gunshots and then automatically alert 911 dispatchers of their location.

Police say an officer attempted CPR but was unable to revive the victim after officers were summoned shortly after 5 a.m. Tuesday.

Police found several shell casings at the scene and were trying to determine what led to the shooting.

No suspects were immediately named or charged.
