MUNHALL (AP) – A second person has died following a fire last month at an apartment complex for the elderly and disabled near Pittsburgh.

The Allegheny County medical examiner says 87-year-old Elizabeth Dell died Friday at UPMC-Mercy hospital. The death was announced Monday night and the cause and manner are still pending.

Sixty-one-year-old Richard Miller had previously died in the Dec. 16 fire at Parkview Towers in Munhall.

The complex for elderly and disabled residents is run by the United Methodist Church Union. The Rev. Larry Homitsky, the group’s spokesman, says 84 people lived in the seven-story building.

Most have been staying with friends or relatives, though some have moved or are living elsewhere temporarily while crews clean up smoke damage. Homitsky says the group hopes residents can return sometime next week.

The fire’s cause is under investigation.
