Are you an avid reader of the Observer-Reporter?

If so, we’d like to hear from you.

The opinions of our readers are important to us, and we would like to give you a stronger voice in the editorial direction of the newspaper and a better understanding of how it operates.

With that in mind, we are forming a reader advisory panel and are looking for eight subscribers from Washington and Greene counties to share their views of the newspaper with publisher Tom Northrop, director of news Lucy Corwin and executive editor Liz Rogers over the next several months.

We convened a similar panel five years ago and used the feedback to help drive some of our decisions and make changes in our editorial content.

Our first meeting will be held March 9 at the Observer-Reporter’s main office at 122 S. Main St., Washington. Following a tour of the building, panelists will be dinner guests of the newspaper at a nearby restaurant.

The next five meetings will be held on the second Thursday of April, May, June, September and October. We’ll meet at a restaurant for dinner to discuss topics that will include the editorial, news and sports pages, niche publications and newspaper-sponsored events.

All we ask is for panelists to be honest in their opinions, constructive in their criticism and committed to attending all six meetings.
