Four local legislators this week received their legislative committee assignments.

State Rep. Pam Snyder, D-50th District, was named to five key House committees.

“All legislation moves through committees, and my assignments fit extremely well with concerns vital to the district,” said Snyder about her being named this week to the House Consumer Affairs, Environmental Resources and Energy, Labor and Industry, Game and Fisheries, and Local Government committees.

Jason Ortitay, R-46th District, was assigned to the Appropriations, Environmental Resources and Energy, Gaming Oversight and Urban Affairs committees.

“I’m pleased to be reappointed to the Gaming Oversight Committee,” Ortitay said. “With the nearby Meadows Casino, I understand the importance it plays in Washington County’s economy. In addition, I’m looking forward to joining the Appropriations Committee. Important decisions need to be made to craft a budget that recognizes our needs, not our wants, and shapes our commonwealth for decades to come.”

State Rep. Bud Cook, R-49th District, has been named to the House Game and Fisheries, Gaming Oversight, Human Services and Tourism and Recreational Development committees.

“There is a lot of heavy lifting that needs to be done at the legislative level to ensure that our state and local economies thrive, the Mon Valley’s ever-increasing drug epidemic is addressed, our regional travel and tourism are revitalized, and all levels of government are held accountable,” he said.

State Rep. Justin Walsh, R-58th District, was appointed to the Commerce, Game and Fisheries, and State Government committees for the 2017-18 legislative session.

“I’m eager to get to work on all three of these committees,” Walsh said. “With my legal degree and work as an attorney, I believe I will be able to bring a wealth of experience and a commonsense approach to each of these areas.”
