Woman stabbed, robbed while walking in Canton

State police are investigating a stabbing and robbery that took place just after 6 a.m. Wednesday in Canton Township.

According to Trooper Steven Dowlin, the woman, who was on her way to work, was walking near the railroad tracks off of West Chestnut Street when she was approached by a person dressed in all black. She was not able to provide any further description of the assailant, who allegedly stole her cellphone and stabbed her in the shoulder with an unknown weapon.

The woman reportedly made her way to McDonald’s, 1294 W. Chestnut St., and police were called. She was taken to Washington Hospital. The extent of her injuries was not known.

Dowlin said that no witnesses have come forward. The incident is under investigation.
