Criminal mischief: Police reported finding five pieces of railing missing from the playhouse of the Franklin Avenue playground early Wednesday morning during a foot patrol. One piece was found in the grass, but the others couldn’t be located.

Man jailed: Michael Anthony Pace Jr., 24, of 215 Knox Ave., Monessen, is charged by city police with drug possession with intent to deliver, drug possession and disorderly conduct, court records show. Police accuse Pace of having 10 bricks and three bundles of heroin and 21.6 grams of crack during a traffic stop about 9 p.m. Tuesday at Rostraver Street and Reed Avenue. Pace was placed in Westmoreland County jail on $50,000 bond set by District Judge Charles Christner.

Man wanted: Taft Derrick Jones, 30, of 717 Rostraver St., Monessen, is charged by city police with flight to avoid apprehension over allegations he ran away from his residence about 8:30 p.m. Saturday after being told he was wanted for a parole violation, court records show. District Judge Charles Christner signed a warrant Tuesday for Jones’ arrest.

Assault alleged: William Arthur Lewerenz, 50, of 538 Rostraver St., Monessen, is charged by city police with simple assault over allegations he slapped Lyla Susan Marie Sundermier in the face about 8 p.m. Tuesday at his residence, court records show. He is free on unsecured bond set by District Judge Charles Christner.

Missing/stolen plate: A man on Lakeview Drive reported the license of his 1991 International trailer went missing over the weekend.

Soliciting: Police directed a grandmother to stop allowing her two grandchildren, roughly 7 and 9, to solicit money from passing cars with signs and then run through traffic to collect it near Giant Eagle, 331 Washington Road. The grandmother reportedly told an officer the activity was her idea. Several 911 callers had reported the children running through traffic.

Threat reported: A man who lives on the 500 block of Broad Street reported he found a puppy in his yard Monday and was unable to locate the owner. About 11 p.m., he said a silver four-door car pulled up in front of his house and someone described only as a black man in his 40s wearing a black shirt and pants – whom the victim had never seen before – came to the front door and demanded his dog back. The victim told police the man threatened to “shoot everyone” if his dog wasn’t returned. The victim returned the puppy, and the man left in the car. Police haven’t been able to locate the suspect or vehicle.

Stolen SUV: A woman reported her 2005 dark-gray Chevrolet Trailblazer was stolen from the parking lot of Shop ‘n Save. She told police her then-boyfriend had been using it while she was in jail and left it in the lot at some point after she was released June 29. He did not return the keys to her.

Forgery: A woman who lives on Donnan Avenue reported receiving a notification from a collection agency for a bill of $257 on an Xfinity account for March and April 2016. She told police she didn’t open the account, and has no ties to Scranton, the address on the account.
