“Lessons learned from Duke Lake” at Ryerson Station State Park, Greene County, will be discussed at the regular meeting of the Buffalo Creek Watershed Association at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Buffalo Township Building, 400 Buffalo Center Lane, just off the Taylorstown Exit of Interstate 70.

After the long struggle to have the 91-acre Dutch Fork Lake restored for public use and recreation in the aftermath of Hurricane Ivan, members of the watershed association and others interested in protecting the lake will be able to learn about potential impact of extraction industries.

Veronica Coptis, executive director of the Center for Coalfield Justice will talk about “Lessons Learned from the Ryerson Fight: How to Ensure Dutch Fork Lake Does Not Endure the Same Fate from Longwall Mining.”
