Bridge in Franklin Township to be reconstructed

Construction for the Garards Fort Road bridge spanning Coal Lick Run in Franklin Township is scheduled to begin later this month.
The project, part of the state Department of Transportation’s Rapid Bridge Replacement Project, will allow construction crews to remove it from Greene County’s structurally deficient bridge list. This schedule may change in the event of unfavorable weather or unforeseen activities, PennDOT said.
Construction is expected to begin during the week of June 26 and be complete in early September. During this time, traffic will be maintained with a two-lane “runaround” on Garards Fort Road. Morris Hill Road will be closed during construction. Drivers will be directed to follow a detour along Dutch Run Road, Lanz Road and Temple Ridge Road.
This bridge is referred to as JV-511 and is one out of the 558 bridges being replaced under the state’s Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. The project is financed through public-private partnership between PennDOT and Plenary Walsh Keystone Partners.
