Police Beat June 13

Woman charged: Joanna D. Temple, 32, of 956 Addison St., Washington, was charged last week by state police with possession with intent to manufacture marijuana and possession of paraphernalia after she reportedly had a grow operation in April at property on Waynesburg Road, Amwell. The charges were sent by summons from the office of District Judge Ethan Ward.
Charged in stop: Logan W. DeLong, 19, of St. Clairsville, Ohio, was charged last week by state police with possession of marijuana and paraphernalia in addition to traffic violations stemming from a May 27 traffic stop on Interstate 79 northbound, south of the Lone Pine/Amity exit, Amwell. The charges were sent by summons from the office of District Judge Ethan Ward.
Money stolen: Canonsburg police are investigating the attempted theft of money from the register at Olive Oil’s, 596 W. Pike St., and the theft of money from an employee’s purse. Police received the report Friday after surveillance showed a former employee trying to open the register. He was not authorized to do so, police said. Charges are pending.
DUI crash: Chauncey Hackett, 20 of Coraopolis, faces charges including driving under the influence of alcohol after he reportedly crashed into a utility pole on Craighead Street early Monday. He was treated at the scene for a laceration above his eye. Police said his blood alcohol level was almost nine times the 0.02 limit presumed for intoxication for anyone under the age of 21.
Card stolen: Dawna Stephenson of Canonsburg told Canonsburg police that her credit card was stolen and used six different times to make purchases at locations in Homestead and Bloomfield.
Wanted on warrant: Tiffany Howard, 35, of 636 First St., Donora, is charged by borough police with theft and unauthorized use over allegations she stole a vehicle belonging to Jeff Kafton about 6 a.m. June 7 from the 400 block of Chestnut Street, court records show. Police said the car was discovered across the street from Howard’s residence. She is wanted on a warrant signed Thursday by District Judge Larry Hopkins.
Man charged: Shakal Charles Brooks, 21, of 134 Thompson Ave., Donora, is charged by borough police with obstructions over allegations he told officers his mother, Cinnamon Brooks, was not home when they went to their residence to serve an arrest warrant on her about 7:30 a.m. May 19, court records indicate. District Judge Larry Hopkins issued the charge in a summons Thursday.
Brother charged: Michael Lee Lambert, 24, of 16 Coal St., Dunlevy, was arrested Saturday on a warrant obtained by state police charging him with simple assault and harassment. He is accused of punching his brother during a Sept. 27, 2015, confrontation at their home. He was arraigned before District Judge Gary Havelka and placed in Washington County Jail on $10,000 bond.
Underage drinking: Members of the state police Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement cited a dozen people for underage drinking Sunday at Key Bank Pavilion, Hanover. Washington County residents charged were Alyssa N. Salley, 20, of Venetia; Samantha M. Berry, 20, of McMurray and Abigail J. Szmanski, 19, of McDonald.
Theft charge: Danielle D. Gauthier, 27, of Bakerstown, Allegheny County, was charged last week by theft by state police for allegedly stealing $600 from a home on Busey Road, Hanover. The charge will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Gary Havelka.
Assault charge: Casey Dean Lawhead, 37, of 207 Front St., Midway, was charged last week by McDonald police with simple assault and harassment after he allegedly assaulted his wife at their home May 31. The charges were sent by summons from the office of District Judge Gary Havelka.
Fugitive arrested: Joseph M. Hampson, 39, of 980 Road, McDonald, was arrested Friday by McDonald police as a fugitive from justice after he was found in a ride-sharing vehicle in a parking lot at 101 St. Johns St., Midway. Police learned he was wanted on a warrant on a theft charge in Boardman, Ohio. He was arraigned before District Judge Gary Havelka and placed in Washington County Jail on $50,000 bond.
Two charged: Michael Churpak, 67, of 31 South St., Atlasburg, and Shannon Douglas Hess, 20, of 769 Route 18, Burgettstown, were each charged last week by Smith police with receiving stolen property. Hess reportedly purchased a stolen skid loader and other items that he then reportedly sold to Churpak. The charges were sent by summons from the office of District Judge Gary Havelka.
Assault, harassment charges: Matthew J. Dobrzynski, 25, of 1400 Allison Ave., Washington, was charged last week by state police with simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct after he allegedly punched a woman at a home on Old Plank Road, South Franklin. He is also accused of removing a tire from another woman’s vehicle. The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Ethan Ward.
Burglary attempt: South Strabane police said a would-be burglar made three attempts to enter a home off Locust Avenue Extension in the township. The attempted break-ins were reported Sunday.
Garage damaged: Dick Mangas, 605 Donnan Ave., told Washington police Friday that his garage door was damaged with a brick.
Account accessed: Jason Robison of Washington told Washington police Friday that money was moved from his savings account to checking account. Fraudulent purchases of $460 were then made using his account information.
Tablet stolen: Francisco Gregg, 619 1/2 Ewing St., told Washington police Friday that a tablet that had been in a backpack was stolen from his home.
Brass sign, fan stolen: An employee of the Washington Trust building, 6 S. Main St., told Washington police Friday that a brass sign for the building and brass fan were stolen.
Harassment charge: Joshua Cramer, 34, of 290 Vogliano St., Meadow Lands, will be charged with harassment by Washington police after he allegedly pushed another man and threatened him Saturday in a lot at 99 Jefferson Ave.
Vehicle stolen, recovered: Evan Mudge of Wellsburg, W.Va., told Washington police Sunday the 2000 Mercury Mountaineer he was driving was stolen from the lot at Burger King 775 Jefferson Ave. He told police that he left the keys in the vehicle. The vehicle was found a short time later behind a building in the 300 block of Jefferson. The radio had been stolen.
Windshield damaged: The windshield of a vehicle driven by Alberto Moss of Westland was damaged Sunday when a group of people were fighting in the 10 block of Grove Avenue, Washington police said.
Shots fired: The building housing Dependable Electric, 221 Ridge Ave., as well as items inside the building were damaged Sunday when shots were fired at a target placed on two mattresses against the building. Washington police said about 50 rounds were fired. The side of the building was damaged and some went through the wall, damaging products on the inside.
