Johnstown flights to Baltimore-Washington starting July 17

JOHNSTOWN (AP) – Commercial flights between the John Murtha Johnstown-Cambria County Airport and Baltimore-Washington Thurgood Marshall International Airport begin July 17.
Southern Airways Express has been offering flights from the Johnstown-area airport to Dulles International Airport.
But officials at the airport about 60 miles east of Pittsburgh wanted to make the switch because they say rising gate fees at Dulles would make the flights too expensive.
A standard one-way ticket from Johnstown to Dulles costs $59, while the same ticket to BWI is $39.
Airport officials say although BWI is farther from Washington, D.C. than Dulles, the public transit from BWI is better and BWI has more nonstop destinations and better fares than flying through Pittsburgh.
