Three charged in Canton Twp. burglaries
A Canton Township man and two women from Washington are in custody on charges stemming from a Canton Township burglary and break-ins at McGuffey Community Park concession stands.
State police Wednesday arrested the suspects: Barri A. Booth, 24, of 1694 The Circle; and Kimberly Dianne Kover, 28, and Kelly Marie Kover, 27, both of 1176 Bruce St., during a traffic stop early that morning in North Franklin Township, court records show.
Troopers discovered the suspects parked in an older green Dodge pickup truck at a BP station on West Chestnut Street about 2:15 a.m. Wednesday after receiving a complaint about a suspicious vehicle with that description and bearing a Minnesota license plate at The Circle, the affidavits allege. Booth was identified as the driver.
Police also discovered a machete and large knife behind the driver’s seat, and a wooden container holding coins also was in the vehicle. All of the items had been reported stolen days earlier from the residence of Booth’s father, Liden, who was contacted by troopers Wednesday and said his son did not have permission to enter the house. A banking card also was stolen from a vehicle parked in his garage in the 1,200 block of Davis Avenue, and it was used to withdraw $200 from his account, the court record alleges.
Police said receipts for the withdrawals were discovered in Kimberly Kover’s pockets.
The three suspects later gave similar statements, relating a pry bar was used to open a back door at Liden Booth’s residence.
They also confessed to breaking into two concession stands at the park at 132 Mill St., Claysville, and stealing food, keys and a black safe. The safe was found by troopers hidden behind Friendship Community Church in Canton.
The suspects are each charged with burglary, conspiracy, access device fraud, receiving stolen property, possession of drug paraphernalia and criminal mischief. They were sent to Washington County jail, each on $10,000 bond set by District Judge Robert Redlinger.
