Police Beat June 22

Heroin charges: Adam D. Smith, 35, of 339 Grant St., Nemacolin, was charged by Cumberland Township police with possession with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia after he allegedly sold five stamp bags of heroin to a confidential informant in February. Police said Smith met with the informant Feb. 5 at the Shop ‘n Save store in Carmichaels. The informant reportedly paid $15 for five bags of heroin, and police later arrested Smith. During the arrest, police said they found Smith to be in possession of three additional bags of heroin. Smith was jailed on a $10,000 percentage bond. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for 2 p.m. June 29 before District Judge Lee Watson.
Crash: State police said a 20-year-old Waynesburg woman was not injured in a Tuesday afternoon rollover crash on Orchard Road in Franklin Township. Police said Michelle L. Hysell was driving west when she failed to negotiate a curve, struck a mailbox, drove through a fence and hit the porch of a residence at 131 Orchard Road.
