Bill to prohibit lying about military service signed into law

Legislation sponsored by state Rep. Rick Saccone, R-Elizabeth, that will prohibit anyone to economically benefit from lying about military service or receiving decorations without merit was signed into law Tuesday by Gov. Tom Wolf.
House Bill 168 would allow a third-degree misdemeanor charge for doing so.
In 2013, the federal Stolen Valor Act was passed by Congress, but it addressed only those who might lie about having military decorations, and not those who benefit economically.
