Trinity School Board approves tentative budget

Trinity Area School Board approved a proposed 2017-18 general fund budget of $55.6 million Thursday night.
Matthew Howard, director of fiscal services, said the budget proposal currently is $552,000 out of balance. He called the proposed budget “a work in progress,” and said he will discuss the budget further with board members at the finance committee meeting May 23.
The proposed budget includes a property tax increase of 0.4944 mills, which includes an increase of the index allowed by the state of 0.4129 mills and the school district’s exception of 0.0815 mills.
A property owner with a home assessed at $100,000 would pay about $50 more if the current budget proposal is approved.
The board plans to adopt a final budget June 15.
