A Canonsburg woman was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon on a bench warrant after she allegedly ran from borough police who were called to her South Central Avenue home.

Nicole Finney, 35, of 534 S. Central Ave., was wanted on drug charges filed almost five years ago by the state police vice unit, stemming from a February 2012 incident in Washington.

Police were called about 2 p.m. to 534 S. Central after getting a call from a third party saying his friend had called him, crying hysterically. He said he was unable to understand her. When police arrived, they could hear two people yelling. Police repeatedly asked for the door to be opened before Amanda Molinaro, 34, of Washington, opened the door. Molinaro reportedly was the one who had called the friend.

Finney allegedly fled from the house, jumping out a window and running through backyards. North Strabane Township and state police joined Canonsburg in searching sheds, garages and under porches. A North Strabane officer found Finney hiding under a porch in the 600 block of South Central.

Finney told police Molinaro hit her with a ball bat and she was being held against her will after Molinaro discovered $35 missing, police said. Finney allegedly gave police another woman’s name when being questioned.

Finney was arraigned before District Judge Robert Redlinger on charges of possession with intent to deliver and possession of a controlled substance, possession of paraphernalia and conspiracy. Finney is accused of selling a bundle of 10 stamp bags of heroin to an undercover trooper. She was released on $15,000 unsecured bond. She is scheduled for a preliminary hearing May 22 before Redlinger. Canonsburg police will charge her with false identification to police.
