Waynesburg man sentenced to state prison on four criminal cases

WAYNESBURG – A Waynesburg man was sentenced Wednesday to 1 to 5 years in state prison for four different criminal cases from last year and earlier this year.
Logan John Lynn Miller, 30, pleaded guilty before Greene County Judge Lou Dayich Wednesday in three cases that include five receiving stolen property charges.
Two of the cases are from Dec. 17, when Miller was found by state police to be in possession of three stolen chainsaws and a four-wheeler. Police said the items were stolen during a burglary in Richhill Township that same day.
Also that day, police found him to be in possession of a rifle and shotgun, valued at $600, stolen from a different victim during a robbery. Miller allegedly sold the guns to a man in Springhill Township.
The third case was from July 15, when Miller was found by state police to be in possession of stolen lawn equipment, including a riding mower, a weed trimmer, loading ramps, a chainsaw, a push mower, two gas cans and a pressure washer.
After entering pleas in those cases, Miller pleaded guilty to assaulting a fellow inmate in Greene County jail with a toothbrush.
Miller, along with an alleged co-defendant, assaulted a 22-year-old inmate Jan. 11. According to the police report, Miller believed the victim had smuggled tobacco into the jail by placing it in a body cavity. Miller slammed the inmate to the floor of the shower, held him down and searched for the tobacco with a toothbrush, police said.
Police charged him with simple assault and harassment, to which he pleaded guilty Wednesday.
Miller was given credit for time served since Jan. 3 and was ordered to pay $919 in restitution. He will be eligible for a recidivism risk-reduction incentive in nine months.
