Police Beat May 12

Theft: State police said someone stole two 50-foot copper welding leads from the back of a truck owned by Pittsburgh Material Handling while it was parked at a Morris Street residence in Franklin Township Monday or Tuesday.
Drug charges: Amnie Lawver, 55, of Uniontown, is facing felony drug charges after Greene County sheriff’s deputies arrested him on a bench warrant April 6. Deputies said they received an anonymous tip that Lawver was in the Alicia neighborhood of Monongahela Township and spotted him driving on Route 88. He then allegedly drove away from police and threw bags of suspected crack cocaine from the vehicle before stopping. Deputies found drug paraphernalia and $452 in his car, according to court documents. Lawver was charged Thursday with drug possession with intent to deliver, flight to avoid apprehension, fleeing police, resisting arrest and two counts each of possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance and evidence tampering. He is being held without bond at the Greene County jail.
Hit-and-run crash: Wayne A. Knisley Jr., 63, of 247 Lippencott Run Road, Waynesburg, was charged by state police with leaving the scene of a crash and three summary violations after he allegedly drove through a stop sign May 1 and struck another vehicle at the intersection of Circle Street and First Street near Mather. Knisley then allegedly left the scene before exchanging information with the other driver, police said.
Criminal mischief: State police said someone cut the locks off of chains securing a gate on Mt. Morris Road in Whiteley Township either Monday or Tuesday.
