WAYNESBURG – A Waynesburg man was sentenced Wednesday to at least 6 months in jail for two separate cases that both involved violence toward his girlfriend.

The first incident happened about 1 a.m. Dec. 8, when Daniel Wayne Ealy Jr., 31, of 291 E. High Street, allegedly drove with 26-year-old Ashley Temple to the residence of his 22-year-old girlfriend, Veronica Farrar.

According to police reports, Ealy was a passenger in Temple’s car when he allegedly started punching her in the head and mouth. Police said Ealy then told Temple to assault Farrar, who was six months pregnant. When they arrived at Farrar’s Franklin Township home, Ealy allegedly took Temple’s phone, entered Farrar’s home and started punching her in the head and face.

Police said Ealy took Temple’s car keys and left before returning 10 minutes later to continue punching Farrar in the face. Farrar had been holding her 2-year-old son, whom Ealy also struck in the head, the criminal complaint said.

State police filed multiple charges against Ealy. He pleaded no contest Wednesday to robbery, two simple assault counts and theft, and pleaded guilty to one count of simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, unauthorized use of an automobile, three counts of harassment, disorderly conduct and two traffic summary offenses.

In his second case, Ealy pleaded guilty to terroristic threats, harassment and two counts of simple assault. Those charges stem from a Jan. 24 incident at Farrar’s residence.

Police said Ealy entered her residence while he was intoxicated and threatened her life, as well as the life of her unborn child. He punched Farrar in the face and stomach and hit her in the arm with a baseball bat.

Greene County Judge Lou Dayich sentenced Ealy on both cases to a total of 6 months to 5 years in jail, with credit for time served since April 19. He also was ordered to pay $139 in restitution to Temple, to pay $225 in fines and to complete 100 hours of community service.

Dayich also sentenced two other criminal defendants after they pleaded guilty last week.

Ryan Hunter Russell, 27, of 314 Victoria Square, Waynesburg, pleaded guilty to driving under the influence and multiple summary traffic offenses. State police had stopped Russell on High Street in Waynesburg Aug. 7, after noticing he had been swerving and driving on the sidewalk multiple times.

Russell’s blood-alcohol content was 0.262 percent. He was sentenced to 72 hours to 6 months in jail and will have to pay $910 in fines.

James Albert Lewellen III, 20, of 198 Dora Lane, Mt. Morris, pleaded guilty to retail theft for an incident that happened Dec. 12, 2015. Lewellen stole $43.33 worth of food and drinks from the BFS store on Gas Company Road in Perry Township.

Lewellen, who now lives in West Virginia, was sentenced to 4 days to 1 year in jail with credit for time served. He was ordered to pay $43.33 in restitution to the store and to complete 90 hours of community service.
