Hearing continued in machete assault
BELLE VERNON – Attorneys representing two neighbors charged in a fight in which one of them was sliced in the arm with a machete last month want to review their clients’ medical records before having a preliminary hearing.
District Judge Charles Christner agreed Monday and postponed the hearing until June for the two men, Victor J. Gregorini and Carey Michael Delmer, both of whom live on Skyline Drive.
Police said the two men began to argue on the afternoon of April 9 after Delmer started to dump grass clippings near Gregorini’s property line.
Police said the two men threw grass clippings at each other before the fight escalated.
Delmer, who wore a sling over his left arm Monday, suffered a severe laceration to it when, according to his story, he raised his arm to protect his head from Gregorini’s machete. Gregorini told Rostraver Township police he raised the machete into the air as Delmer pushed him backward.
Both men are 66 years old.
Gregorini faces charges of aggravated assault, simple assault and reckless endangerment. He is free on $10,000 bond.
Delmer is charged with simple assault and disorderly conduct. He is free on unsecured bond.
Christner continued the hearing until 9 a.m. June 19.
