One person was injured in a one-vehicle crash that closed part of Route 50 near Route 519 in Hickory for several hours early Wednesday.

Mt. Pleasant Township police said the driver, Ellen Warren, 51, of Hickory, told them she may have fallen asleep at the wheel. Her vehicle went off the road in front of 28 Main St. (Route 50) and hit a utility pole about 12:20 a.m. The impact knocked down the pole and power lines. Residents in that area were without power until repairs were made.

A passenger in the car, Barbara Warren, 78, of Hickory, was taken to Canonsburg Hospital for treatment, police said. Neither Ellen Warren nor another passenger, Clair Cowden, 77, of Burgettstown, was injured.
