TAMAQUA, Pa. (AP) — A 19-year-old could become mayor of a Pennsylvania town.

Nathan Gerace defeated two other candidates in Tuesday’s Republican primary for mayor in Tamaqua. No Democrats ran in the primary and the 2016 high school graduate could become the youngest mayor in the Schuylkill County community’s history if elected in November.

Gerace plans to attend Lehigh Carbon Community College.
