Bentleyville man arrested on rape, other charges

A Bentleyville man was arrested Wednesday on a warrant obtained by state police charging him with the rape of a teenage girl over a four-year period starting in 2012.
Timothy C. Burton, 43, of 319 Lincoln Ave., was arraigned before District Judge Curtis Thompson on two counts each of rape and involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, three counts each of aggravated indecent assault and indecent assault and one count each of statutory sexual assault, endangering the welfare of children, furnishing alcohol to a minor and corruption of minors.
The alleged victim went to state police in Belle Vernon earlier this month to report she was sexually assaulted.
She told police the first assault happened when she was 15 during the summer of 2012, on a boat that was docked in the Charleroi area.
After the initial incident, she alleged Burton assaulted her three or four more times.
The victim also alleges Burton sexually assaulted her several times when she was 16.
She also told police just before she turned 18, Burton gave her vodka before forcing her to have sexual intercourse with him at a home in Bentleyville.
She told police she had sex with him two more times and that he typically would provide her with alcohol.
Burton was released Wednesday from Washington County jail after posting $250,000 bond.
He is scheduled for a May 31 preliminary hearing before Thompson.
