Police Beat May 20
Drug charges: Jason M. Downs, 18, of Albion, N.Y., was charged Thursday by California police with possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia and disorderly conduct after a May 4 traffic stop in the 300 block of Wood Street. The charges were sent by summons from the office of District Judge Joshua Kanalis.
Charged in crash: Samayah Winston, 27, of Wyncote, Montgomery County, was charged this week by California police with leaving the scene of a crash and failure to report a crash after she allegedly fled May 11 from the scene of an accident in the 500 block of Second Street. The charges were sent by summons from the office of District Judge Joshua Kanalis.
Vehicle entered: Nicholas Amato of 501 Ridge Ave. told Canonsburg police Thursday loose change and a flashlight were stolen from his unlocked vehicle.
Charged in crash: Logan Noah Reitmeyer, 19, of 399 Old National Pike, West Alexander, was charged this week by state police with driving under the influence of alcohol, minor prohibited from driving with alcohol in his system, underage drinking and several traffic violations in connection with an April 22 crash in the 600 block of Old National Pike, Donegal. Police said his vehicle went off the road, down a hill and came to rest in a field. They said his blood-alcohol content was more than seven times the 0.02 percent limit for anyone younger than 21. The charges were sent by summons from the office of District Judge Ethan Ward.
Assault arrest: Christopher L. Nixon, 30, of 166 S. Wade Ave., East Washington, was arrested early Friday by borough police after he allegedly head-butted his girlfriend during a confrontation at their home. He was arraigned before District Judge James Ellis on charges of aggravated and simple assault and harassment and placed in Washington County jail on $2,500 bond.
Rims, posts stolen: Russell Lyle of 846 Ewing St. told Washington police Friday two men in a red pickup truck stole bike rims and fence posts from the rear of his property.
Inn cited: The operators of May’rz Inn, 165 S. Main St., were cited Friday by the state police Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement for allegedly allowing gambling on the premises April 25.
Stand entered: The concession stand at Bronco Field, Washington Park, was broken into between Tuesday and Thursday, Washington police said. About $10 was stolen, along with candy.
Items stolen: Alex Homerosky of Canonsburg told Washington police Thursday his wallet containing his identification and passport, an iPad, golf clubs and three bookbags were stolen from his vehicle while it was parked in the 400 block of Allison Avenue. He told police the vehicle had been stolen Wednesday, but he found it in a lot on East Wylie Avenue. He also told police he left the vehicle unsecured when he parked it.
Assault charge: City police charged Tonya L. Marshall, 34, of Allison Avenue, by summons from District Judge Robert Redlinger’s office Thursday with simple assault. The charge stems from an incident the day before in which unspecified “independent witnesses” told police Marshall pulled off a man’s glasses and Maced him before bystanders intervened.
