Theft charges: Cody William Greer, 22, of 106 Dickson St., Midway, was charged by Cumberland Township police with theft, receiving stolen property and possession of drug paraphernalia after he allegedly stole a woman’s wallet from an assisted living facility at 215 Ceylon Road in Carmichaels May 4. Police said Greer spent most of that day with a resident of the home, but when he left about 9 p.m., the woman’s wallet was in a bag belonging to Greer. The woman, Sierra Yeager, told police Greer stole her wallet, but Greer denied the allegations and told police Yeager put it in his bag. Police said they searched the bag and also found marijuana pipes and paraphernalia, which Greer told police did not belong to him.

Vehicle theft charges: Eric Lee Bryte, 18, of 242 Spring Valley Road, Marianna, was charged with theft, receiving stolen property and unauthorized use of a vehicle after he allegedly took his father’s SUV without permission about 6 a.m. May 19. Police said he took the vehicle from his father’s home on Huggins Lane in Greene Township.

Welfare fraud alleged: Eleanor L. Smith, 54, of 389 Grant St., Nemacolin, was charged by an agent of the state Office of Inspector General with welfare fraud for allegedly giving a false statement regarding eligibility for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits. Police said Smith unlawfully obtained $3,570 from Oct. 1, 2014, through July 31, 2015, because she failed to report that her husband, Robert Smith, had been employed at the time.

Resisting charges: Frank E. Salka, 53, of 723 Salka Lane, Bunola, was charged by Waynesburg police with resisting arrest, public drunkenness and two counts of disorderly conduct after he allegedly was fighting and yelling in the Sunoco parking lot in Waynesburg Saturday evening. Police said Salka had pinned a woman to the outside wall of the building at 10 E. Greene St., was yelling and appeared to be intoxicated. Police said Salka resisted arrest, and it took three officers to subdue him. The woman told police that she and Salka had been drinking all day, and that he had not hurt her, according to the criminal complaint.
