• Action: The board approved travel to the Virtual Machine World Conference in Las Vegas, Nev., and training for an information technology employee Aug. 27 to 31 at a cost of approximately $2,500.
At the request of the Domestic Relations office, the commissioners will have attorneys Pat Smider and Bob Johnson handle hearing officers’ duties until a replacement is found. The two will be paid through the federal Child Support Enforcement and the Social Security Act Title IV-D program.
GAI Consultants Inc. will perform video inspection of the outlet and draw-down system of a flood-control dam in Hanover Township at the request of the Department of Environmental Protection at a cost of $7,500.
The Planning Commission approved a contract with McCormick Taylor of Pittsburgh to design and obtain permits for three county bridge replacements: Rodgers Bridge, Buffalo Township, over Buffalo Creek, $138,732; Ackelson Bridge over Raccoon Creek, Robinson Township, $64,870; and Potter Bridge over Wheeling Creek, West Finley Township, $62,493.
The Planning Commission was also authorized to seek bids for the construction of the Thompson Hill Road widening project, to be paid with gas funds from Cross Creek County Park, and to re-side and install roofs on two barns at the fairgrounds at the request of the Washington County Fair Board. It will purchase two 2017 Ford trucks from Woltz and Wind Ford for $93,099 for use throughout the parks and Panhandle Trail. It will also purchase another truck for $60,841 from the same dealership to be used by the Bridge and Liquid Fuels Department. This purchase will be paid through the liquid fuels fund.
