A Fredericktown man was injured when his motorcycle struck a disabled pickup truck early Sunday on Route 40 (East National Pike) and Garber Road in South Strabane Township.

State police said Kevin Schultz, 29, of 280 Barnard Road, was driving west on Route 40 on a motorcycle with Lori Thompson, 33, of Perryopolis, as a passenger at 12:38 a.m.

The motorcycle struck the rear of the pickup. Both Schultz and Thompson were thrown from the motorcycle. The driver of the pickup truck, Daniel Madden Jr., 27, of 25 Meyers Road, Washington, told state police he was driving west near Garber when his truck started to sputter and then stopped after running out of gas.

Police said Schultz was flown to UPMC-Presbyterian hospital in Pittsburgh for treatment. Police did not indicate if Thompson was injured.
