Mapletown will hold graduation Friday
Mapletown High School will graduate 53 seniors at commencement exercises at 7 p.m. June 2 in the school’s gymnasium.
The valedictorian is Richard Austin Menear, and the salutatorian is Randy Durr.
Menear, son of Richard and Christine Menear of Greensboro, is vice president of the National Honor Society and president of SADD.
He has served as co-captain of the Academic League, played on the varsity baseball team and has been a member of the ski club, Future Teachers of America and Peer Court.
Menear has been on mission trips to Guatemala, Honduras and Ukraine. He will attend Liberty University to pursue a degree in nursing.
Durr, son of Kathy Durr of Greensboro and Randy Durr of Morgantown, W.Va., has received the Boosters Scholarship, the Academic Achievement award with sports, the Federal Pell Grant, the Scholarship of Distinction award and the Presidential Award.
He is a member of SADD and played for the football and baseball teams.
Durr will attend West Virginia University to pursue a dual degree in biomedical and mechanical engineering.
