SHAMOKIN (AP) – Authorities say a 10-year-old boy run over by a parade float in Pennsylvania has been upgraded to fair condition in a hospital.

Officials said the boy was walking alongside the float carrying about 20 members of his youth baseball team through the Anthracite Heritage Festival of the Arts Parade in Shamokin Friday.

Team manager Leo Mirolli said that the unnamed boy was caught under the wheel of the trailer. Attempts were made to lift the trailer off the boy while he was given first aid.

A spokeswoman at Geisinger Medical Center near Danville told PennLive.com that the boy was upgraded from critical to fair condition Monday night.
