Rostraver OKs request for adult day-care center
Rostraver Township supervisors Wednesday granted a conditional use to Eich Group Development LLC/Robert L. and Helen Woshner for an adult day-care facility at the intersection of Route 51 and Snyder Lane.
The 12,000-square-foot center will be located on 12 acres. Construction is expected to begin in the summer of 2018 and be completed by the end of the year.
Neighbor Greg Moriuszko brought up his concern the facility will be deemed a hospital. Developer Todd Eichelberger said it definitely is not a hospital.
“There will be no overnight guests. At five o’clock, everyone will go home and the facility will be closed,” he said.
The center will offer activities for older adults, as well as routine health screenings for seniors, such as blood pressure checks, he added.
Neighbor Melissa Morris said having an adult day care in the township is a great idea, but she had concerns about the increased traffic on the narrow road.
Rostraver Township engineer Carl DeiCas said the state Department of Transportation might conduct a traffic study regarding egress from the facility and the width of the road. “This approval is just for conditional use. The developer will now have to bring a site map back for approval. These things will be addressed then,” he said.
In other action, supervisors approved new fees for gas well extraction ($5,000) and fireworks displays ($200).
Also, it was announced that a portion of Route 906, between Tyrol Boulevard and Ridge Road, will be closed for repairs through Nov. 15.
