Waynesburg U. to present theater production of ‘Hamlet’
The Waynesburg University Players will present Shakespeare’s “Hamlet” beginning tonight with the show running through Saturday.
Each performance at the Goodwin Performing Arts Center on campus will begin at 7:30 p.m.
“Hamlet” first premiered around 1600, and is a story of family turmoil and revenge. Theater professor Edward Powers said it is a 400-year-old story that can still relate to a present-day audience.
“This production is an opportunity to see one of the greatest plays of all time on a local stage,” Powers said. “Seeing the Shakespearean characters and hearing their words, instead of merely reading them, can be an exciting opportunity.”
Tickets cost $5 for the general public and $3 for Waynesburg University students. Tickets can be purchased online at waynesburg.ticketleap.com/hamlet or at the door.
