Jurors selected to hear evidence in the case of child sexual assault are to report this morning to Washington County Courthouse.

They will be hearing evidence in the case of Thomas F. Kelley, 48, who lived in the Eighty Four area and was a special education teacher at Trinity High School.

He stands accused of harming a girl in a Somerset Township home more than a decade ago when she was 6 to 7 years old.

Kelley’s employment with the Trinity district ended in 2010 and, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Education, he surrendered his teaching license in lieu of discipline the same year.

After leaving Trinity, Kelley worked in the natural gas industry in Washington before moving to Texas to work for an energy company. He was living in San Antonio, Texas, when he made arrangements to return to Pennsylvania and turn himself in during early 2016. He posted a percentage of a $250,000 and was released from the county jail in September of that year.

Assistant Public Defender Rose Semple represents Kelley and Assistant District Attorney Adam Yarussi will be prosecuting the case to be tried before Judge Michael J. Lucas.

Kelley faces charges of rape, statutory sexual assault, sexual assault, endangering the welfare of a child, corruption of minors, indecent assault and aggravated indecent assault.
