A Chartiers Township man was arraigned Tuesday on charges including ethnic intimidation and terroristic threats stemming from an incident near his home earlier this month.

Michael A. Maloy, 44, of 431 Ross St., also is charged with public drunkenness.

Police were called in the early morning hours of Nov. 4 by Maloy’s girlfriend, who reported that he was intoxicated and walking through the Allison plan.

When police arrived, they spotted Maloy standing in the driveway of his mother’s house at 433 Ross. He allegedly approached the cruiser, ranting that he was not doing anything wrong and that police were harassing him.

Adult probation placed a detainer on Maloy, who initially was being charged only with summary counts of disorderly conduct and public drunkenness, to have him placed in Washington County jail. As the officers placed him in a cruiser, Maloy allegedly told them he was going to find them and beat them up.

As they transported him, Maloy allegedly threatened to make the officers suffer and said he was “going to wreak havoc and leave bodies all over the place.” He also allegedly directed slurs at one officer.

Maloy, who has been in Washington County jail since the incident on the parole detainer, was arraigned before District Judge David Mark, who set bond at $100,000. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing before Mark Dec. 12.
