Meeting recap
Washington County commissioners
- Date:
- Nov. 17
- Action:
- As expected, the commissioners unanimously exercised their option to prohibit the placement of video gaming terminals at locations such as truck stops.
Nearly one year after a Thanksgiving Day blaze destroyed Shelter No. 3 at Cross Creek County Park, the commissioners authorized the Planning Commission to seek bids to construct a masonry enclosure and fireplace in the replacement structure. Costs will be paid with natural gas lease proceeds and reimbursed through an insurance policy.
As mandated by a court order, the Children and Youth Services agency received authorization from the commissioners to enter into an agreement with Constable Brian O’Conner, who will supervise visitation of children and family members through June 30, 2018, at a cost of $25,000.
At the request of Coroner Timothy Warco, the board approved the addition of two post-mortem tests to the service agreement with NMS Labs of Willow Grove, Montgomery County, which will test for the presence in blood of designer opioids and 3-methylfentanyl, which is estimated to be between 400 and 6,600 times stronger than morphine.
The commissioners authorized the $67,611 purchase under a state contract that does not require bidding of a JCB Model 48Z-1 mini-excavator from Walsh Equipment to be used within the parks and in the vicinity of bridges.
Board members agreed to donate a 1991 street sweeper that is not being used at the county airport to East Bethlehem Township.
