Centerville police took two people into custody Thursday after responding to a domestic dispute at a Vestaburg home – the assault suspect and a woman who was wanted on two warrants, including one from police in New Mexico.

Larry Edward Thompson II, 28, of 501 Fayette St., Washington, was charged with simple assault and harassment for allegedly assaulting a man at 420 Hill St. and knocking him to the floor.

Police determined that Amanda Sue Derck, 38, of Washington, who was reportedly at the home and witnessed the incident, was wanted on warrants obtained by North Huntingdon police in Westmoreland County and police in New Mexico.

North Huntingdon police charged her in 2011 with theft and receiving stolen property for allegedly stealing money while working at a store. She faces forgery charges in New Mexico for allegedly forging a signature on a check that she cashed for $1,000.

Both were arraigned before District Judge Curtis Thompson. Larry Thompson was placed in Washington County Jail on a $10,000 percentage bond. Derck was jailed without bond while awaiting extradition. Bond on the theft charge was set at $20,000.
