McDonald police get warrant for man who tried to shoot brother
A McDonald man is wanted on charges including aggravated assault and reckless endangerment after his alleged attempt to shoot his brother Saturday morning failed when the gun jammed.
McDonald police obtained a warrant for Keyne Jonathon Washington, 33, also charging him with simple assault, harassment and possession of marijuana and paraphernalia in connection with the incident just before 9 a.m. at their home.
Twenty-year-old Jeremy Ray Washington told police he and his brother argued about family issues. Keyne Washington then allegedly pulled out a gun and tried to chamber a round. Jeremy Washington told police the gun jammed or malfunctioned.
While Jeremy Washington was calling 911, Keyne Washington reportedly successfully chambered a round and pointed it at his brother’s chest and face, police said.
The brothers got into a physical altercation with Keyne Washington still holding the gun. He reportedly punched his brother in the face before fleeing from the home. Officer Richard France, who filed the charges against Keyne Washington, indicated in court documents Jeremy Washington was bleeding from the mouth and had scratches on his left forearm. He also had blood on his shirt.
The homeowner allowed police to search the residence for the gun. Inside Kenye Washington’s bedroom, police found a marijuana cigarette and pipe.
Jeremy Washington later called police and said he found a gun inside a Jeep Cherokee his brother drives. Police impounded the vehicle and obtained a search warrant from District Judge Curtis Thompson. Found inside the vehicle were a .38-caliber handgun with one round in the chamber. Police also found a suspected grinder and bag of suspected marijuana in the vehicle.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Kenye Washington is asked to call 911.
