A Washington man on parole for firearms charges was arrested Tuesday after he was found in a vehicle with a loaded gun and ammunition.

Desmond L. Lightfoot, 24, of 240 Duncan Ave., was placed in Washington County jail on a parole detainer and state police plan to file charges of carrying an unlicensed firearm and possessing a firearm when prohibited from doing so. Lightfoot also faces charges filed early this week by Chartiers Township police after he allegedly fired a shot through a restroom wall in a tavern, almost striking a woman in the women’s restroom next door.

Lightfoot was a passenger in a vehicle stopped Tuesday by state police at the intersection of Jessop Place and Dillie Street at a traffic safety checkpoint. The driver, Courtney Conklin, 20, admitted to police her license was suspended and the vehicle registration had expired. Police searched the vehicle and found the loaded .38-caliber handgun and additional ammunition.

Conklin was charged with driving under suspension and having an expired registration.

Lightfoot, who is on parole for a 2014 firearms violation, faces charges of carrying an unlicensed firearm and reckless endangerment in the Chartiers incident. In that case, he allegedly fired the shot through the restroom wall early Sunday at Black and Gold Bar, 240 W. Pike St.
