A federal grand jury in Pittsburgh has indicted Romone Barnes, 31, of Addison Street, Washington, on a charge of distributing and possessing with intent to distribute fentanyl, acting U.S. attorney Soo C. Song announced Monday.

The one-count indictment was returned Aug. 24 and unsealed Monday following Barnes’ arrest. The alleged act occurred on or about June 26. Barnes is jailed pending trial and faces a maximum total sentence of 30 years in prison, a fine of $2,000,000 or both.

Special assistant U.S. attorney Jerome A. Moschetta is prosecuting the case on behalf of the government.

Task force officers with the FBI, Pennsylvania State Police and Washington County District Attorney’s Office Drug Task Force handled the investigation leading to the indictment.
