The state Department of Environmental Protection will hold a public hearing next month on the air quality plan approval application for the proposed Hill Top Energy Center located in Greene County.

Hill Top Energy proposed building a 536-megawatt natural gas power plant on 41 acres of land off Thomas Road in Cumberland Township.

The DEP hearing Nov. 2 in the Carmichaels Area High School auditorium will begin with a question-and-answer session at 6 p.m. before the public hearing begins at 7 p.m.

Anyone wishing to testify at the hearing must submit written notice to DEP spokeswoman Lauren Fraley at lfraley@pa.gov, through the mail care of DEP’s Southwest Regional Office, 400 Waterfront Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15222, or by phone at 412-442-4203. Each individual will have 5 minutes to testify and there will also be an opportunity to register on site on the evening of the hearing.

Those who cannot attend the hearing may submit written public comments to the attention of Alexander Sandy at asandy@pa.gov, through mail to 400 Waterfront Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15222, or by fax to 412-442-4194. Written testimony must include the commenter’s name, address and phone number, and reference the proposed Hill Top Energy Center Plan Approval (PA-30-00233B). Public comments will be accepted until Nov. 12.

A copy of Hill Top Energy Center’s application, DEP’s technical review memo and other relevant information is available for review at the DEP’s Southwest Regional Office in Pittsburgh.
