York man held for court in sex case
Child pornography charges against the former executive director of Arc of York County were held for court Tuesday.
George Harlow Flory, 66, of York, was charged earlier this month by North Strabane Township police with four counts of unlawful contact with a minor, five counts of soliciting child pornography and one count each of obscene communication with a minor and criminal use of a communication facility. He was scheduled for a preliminary hearing Tuesday but instead agreed to allow the charges to proceed to Washington County Court.
Police said Flory allegedly sent obscene photos to whom he believed were three young girls, when he actually was communicating with a police officer.
Flory is no longer listed as the director of Arc of York County, which serves people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
An officer of the Pennsylvania Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, was monitoring a chatroom Sept. 27 and posed as a 14-year-old North Strabane girl on the site, according to police. He was soon contacted by Flory, who allegedly was using the screen names of “cutegrandad” and “cutegrandpa.” Flory allegedly acknowledged the supposed 14-year-old’s age and expressed a sexual interest in young girls, according to court documents.
He indicated he had a webcam he used to show his private area to girls, police said, and allegedly engaged in sexual conversations, including asking the supposed 14-year-old girl to send him nude pictures of herself.
Police were able to identify Flory through an internet service provider address after authorities obtained a search warrant.
The officer also used two different profiles, one of a 13-year-old girl and another of a 12-year-old girl, police said. Both allegedly were contacted Sept. 29 and 30 by Flory, who asked them for nude pictures.
Flory is being held at the Washington County jail on $50,000 bond. His formal arraignment is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Dec. 15.
