A Donora man accused of shooting a man in Monessen was arrested near Pittsburgh Saturday by Westmoreland County sheriff’s deputies.

According to a post on the sheriff’s Facebook page, Dwight Allen Moore Jr., who allegedly shot a man Thursday night on Locust Street, contacted the sheriff’s office “through a third party and agreed to peacefully surrender.”

Moore was charged by Monessen police with attempted homicide, aggravated assault, carrying a firearm without a license, possession of an instrument of crime and reckless endangerment, after he allegedly fired six shots at Juwan Mull about 11:50 p.m. in the 900 block of Locust Street.

Mull, who went to the emergency room with a gunshot wound to the lower back, told police he was walking along Locust when he heard the shots fire from behind him. He told police he ran until he found someone to drive him to the hospital in Carroll Township.

Mull told police Moore had recently engaged him in “trash talking” and threats on social media and in person.

A witness to the shooting told police she was on her porch when she saw Moore fire the gun, police said. Minutes after the shooting, Moore allegedly spoke through Facebook Messenger to the witness, apologizing for the shooting and asking her about her home surveillance cameras because he was concerned the police would view the footage.

Deputies said Moore was taken to Westmoreland County jail.
