Police Beat Sept. 6

Man charged: Joseph Lee Sokol, 54, of Clarksburg, W.Va., was charged with receiving stolen property for allegedly taking a cellular telephone Monday from a picnic table at Arnold Park in Chartiers Township, Washington County. State police said the phone’s owner had a “Find My iPhone” feature and followed Sokol’s vehicle on Interstate 79. The owner called police and police stopped Sokol’s vehicle at the 13 mile marker. Police said Sokol also stole two other cell phones.

No injuries: No injuries were reported in a single-vehicle crash about 8:30 a.m. Saturday on Lippencott Road in Morgan Township. State police said Travis J. Gilblom, 25, of Waynesburg, was driving west when his vehicle ran off the road and struck a tree.

Construction equipment stolen: State police said equipment batteries were stolen from a construction site on Lippencott Road in Morgan Township between 7 a.m. Friday and 7 a.m. Tuesday.
